these pictures are from a few weeks ago. sammysosa is very into scavenging and digging and cupboards. he cracks me up.

we've (and when i say we i mean me) gotten into a very bad habit of letting him wander around during breakfast. (i'm tired of listening to him screech about sitting in his highchair. he likes to toddle around and play while he eats his breakfast. whatever.) anyway, he was carrying his yogurt around eating it without a spoon. as you can imagine, he was making a huge mess. i grabbed a spoon and helped him finish eating the yogurt. when he was done, he kept making the sign for more while saying it. i spent the next few minutes explaining and showing him that the container was empty. he gave me one of his looks, walked over to these cupboards, reached all the way to the back, pulled out a piece of toast and started eating it. i could almost hear him saying "naner naner naner". don't fret...the toast was from just before the yogurt...it hadn't been there for days or anything. although, captain adventure did bring me some toast a few afternoons ago, "mahm! here's sammysosa's toast. it was in little mother hen's shoe". so i guess we need to keep track of each morsel from now on. that or i could actually start putting him back in his highchair.

what's wrong with this picture?

this is a picture of what we found at our house after we pulled the drop ceiling down. this is just as we found it. no bullshit. the people we bought it from wall-papered over insulation...and open holes...and wood pieces. these walls passed an inspection. let me repeat that. these walls passed an inspection.

juicy sweet and fun to eat

a few weeks ago, little mother hen left and apple on the kitchen table (you know, the apple she had to have...the one i had to peel right away so she could eat it right away) after taking only two, count them 2 bites. little sammysosa saw it and decided he'd like to take a crack at it. i took like 28 pictures of him eating this friggin' apple...he was totally devoted to eating every little square millimeter that he could get his tiny little teeth on. too cute!

she's a safety girl-- (practically) wordless wednesday)

ok, so after approximately 13 minutes of being outside on bikes and scooters, there was an accident. little mother hen was riding too fast and took a spill. now, our rule is that they must always have their helmets on. other safety equipment is up to them...i can only argue so many times in a day, after all. so...she took a nasty spill scraping both knees and her hands...and that's when she decided to start wearing all available safety equipment at all times. sometimes she wears it when she's just chalking or kicking the ball. what a nut. she's pretty cool.

(nearly) wordless wednesday

this is captain adventure. do i really need to say anything else? he has such amazing energy. he makes me giggle...i really enjoy his company. he truly is a neat kid. i wish i could be inside his head sometimes...i'd like to be there so i could understand why he does the things he does...like peeing on his bedroom floor instead of the in the toilet, or throwing rocks on poppy's roof, or standing in the bathroom sink, or spraying enough room spray in the bathroom that the floor is so wet that i have to get a bath towel to dry it...i just don't get it. he has been having a hard time lately...not sure why. i hope i can figure it out...i want him to enjoy life without causing such a ruckus with his shenanigans. he has such a cool personality. i don't want to crush his little spirit, but something has got to change.

no, your eyes do not deceive you. that is a window and captain adventure is in it. he had been trying to get me to open his window all day so he could watch for birds. since i never move fast enough for him, he took matters into his own hands and moved bedroom furniture and placed it just so. then, using the aforementioned furniture, he climbed onto the window sill and stood/knelt there for several minutes...just looking out into the neighborhood. he was very proud of his macgyver skills.
